UPDATE: Words are not enough to thank everyone for the help given over the past two weeks. Your donations have helped Nancy to be able to recover. FEMA will aid with the rest of the needs. No further donations are necessary.
Recently, the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee swept across Pennsylvania and New York State, causing the Susquehanna River to overflow its banks. The city of Owego, New York, was innundated with water. This was the worst disaster to face the area in over 60 years.
Nancy Schindler, a potter, jewelry designer and art historian, lost her kiln. In addition, the studio in Binghamton, New York, where she regularly produces much of her work, was utterly destroyed by the flooding. Essentially, Nancy's entire business and only source of income has been destroyed. It will be months before she is able to resume her work. She desperately needs to replace lost equipment and care for living expenses in the meantime.
